Caitlyn Agro is a visual artist based in Valley Cottage, New York, whose practice often intertwines the natural beauty and mystery of the world. Caitlyn spent most of her time outdoors growing up, fueling her love for nature and animals. Her recent work explores the relationship between how color relates to her emotional surroundings in the world.

Artist Statement

I am a painter inspired by the natural world’s beauty and mystery. My paintings celebrate color, form, and texture while mediating the relationship between light, shadow, and atmosphere—a combination of abstraction and representation, exploring how color connects to the warm feelings of nature. I work primarily in acrylic paint on canvas, using a combination of brush strokes to create depth and luminosity in my paintings. My work is meant to develop a sense of depth and complexity, inviting the viewer to look beneath the surface of my work to discover the emotional and psychological layers that are hidden there. Each painting is an abstract depiction of our world and expresses my emotional and spiritual connection to nature. Through my work, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and awe through color choices, inviting the viewer to consider the beauty and complexity of the world.
